ABOUT

Growing up in rural Ohio, I looked to the big screen as an escape from the limitations of my life, a place to go to experience people and places and things I didn't have exposure to. Over time, I recognized it also as a way to make deeper connections with people around me. Making films became a way to communicate better; studying film, a way to understand more about history, about myself, and about other people. My research deals with increasing the visibility and discussion of underrepresented filmmakers, especially women. As a teacher, I aim to help students grow as viewers and artists capable of bringing their personal power to their experiences with film.
